(Entry Level Scooter and Motorcycle Tech)

College Scooters was founded in response to the growing need for an honest, reliable, and fun motor scooter sales and repair shop in the MD and DC region. We sell quality scooter brands like Genuine Scooters, and service all quality makes and models of scooters like Honda, Vespa, and more. Our biggest customers are students at the University of Maryland, and professional commuters in Washington, DC. At College Scooters, every day will be a challenge, but fun and rewarding. COMPENSATION
$10.10/hr to $12.00/hr

WHAT DO WALK-IN TECHS DO AT COLLEGE SCOOTERS?
Walk-In Techs are responsible for keeping bikes flowing through our shop efficiently by completing scheduled maintenance services on scooters and motorcycles, changing tires, assembling units for sale, prepping units for sale, and doing basic diagnostics for repair vehicles.

SPECIFIC DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Change tires for appointment and walk-in customers on all types of motorcycles and scooters
-Complete scheduled maintenance services, including but not limited to: oil + filter changes, brake system flushes, brake pad/shoe replacements, spark plug changes, valve adjustments, belt/chain/sprocket changes
-Assemble and prep units for sale on our showroom
-Prep vehicles for winter and summer storage
-Complete fuel system services: carburetor cleaning, tuning, and syncing, tank cleans, etc.
-Install accessories including but not limited to: handlebars, grips, mirrors, cables, lights, speakers
-Inform the Service Manager of changes and revisions to a workorder
-Update approved workorders on the computer: change status, add parts, add notes
-Assist and direct the processing of unit preps and assemblies
-Teach customers how to operate and ride their newly purchased vehicle
-Review services with customers and help them load their bike in a truck or trailer
-Clean our shop vehicles daily and weekly with the team
-Ensure every job is leaving with only the best work done to it, every time

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
-1 year experience repairing motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, or Dirt Bikes
-1 year experience in a professional team environment (any industry)

NOT REQUIRED, BUT BIG PLUSSES
-1 year sales or customer service experience
-Strong interest in and passion for motorsports

REQUIRED EDUCATION
-High school diploma is required
-A college degree, specialty programs, and/or program certificates are regarded highly, but are not required. MMI or YTI graduation is a big plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS
-Strong hands-on skills and abilities
-Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
-Ability to load and unload heavy motorcycles and scooters from trucks and trailers
-Ability to be on your feet for a large majority of the day
-Clear and effective communication skills
-Strong teamwork skills (almost everything you do will be team-related)
-A passion for problem solving and fixing things
-Strong basic computer skills (we will train you on our inventory and POS systems)
-An ability to work through problems and not get frustrated by them. You must be able to push through the roadblocks that may arise on a service unit. Patience but diligence.
-Great customer interaction skills. You will not be isolated in your role, and will have to work with customers in explaining a service or teaching them how to ride.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-Clean driving record and valid license
-Must be able to pass drug test and background check
-A valid motorcycle license (if you don't have one, you must acquire one within 90 days of hire)
-Punctuality. You must be able to arrive on time everyday! Tardiness has no place is our work environment.
-An organized and well-stored tool set (if you don't have all required tools, we will help acquire them for you and deduct it out of a couple paychecks). We will provide a tool cart for maximum service efficiency. We also provide a number of specialty tools for use by all mechanics.
-DOT approved motorcycle helmet (can purchase from us if you don't have one yet!)
-Reliable daily transportation (car that you own, motorcycle that you own, etc.)
-Organized, reliable, resilient, dedicated, and consistently positive and uplifting attitude

Showroom Assistant (Sales and Customers Service position)

TERM
Full Time preferred

Part Time is possible (however this job requires a minimum of 30 hours per week)

COMPENSATION
$11.25/hour plus commission

 

WHAT DO SHOWROOM ASSISTANTS DO AT COLLEGE SCOOTERS?

  • Be the first representation of our brand to our customers. Sell products to customers, both in-person, over email, and on the phone
  • Assist customers over the phone who call with questions or would like to purchase something
  • Show people how to operate their newly purchased vehicle
  • Recommend products and services to walk-in customers
  • Receive and unpack inventory orders, put items away, and label them properly for sale
  • Assist in keeping our store CSO (clean, safe, and orgranzied)
  • Deliver a customer's bike back to them after a sale or service
  • Open/Close the register
  • Assist with light service duties, such as unloading boxes, assemblies, preps, etc.
  • Complete warranty claims, finance, and new sale paper work with customers



REQUIREMENTS
1 year Retail, Customer Service, or Sales experience
A strong willingness to learn and grow. (Drive Change)

NOT REQUIRED, BUT BIG PLUSSES
Ownership of a motorcycle, dirt bike, ATV, scooter, or moped
A pick-up truck or vehicle capable of pulling a small trailer
Motorcycle or power-sport store experience

REQUIRED EDUCATION
High school diploma is required
